I have never, ever, ever used Twitter, and that is the gospel truth. I absolutely hate the way it has cheapened the written word. Sometimes, just sometimes, brevity is not the point. Not everything can, or indeed should, be distilled down to 140 characters. It is pathetic. It is for pathetic sheeple with the attention span of a grape. Not only that, but tweets are utterly incomprehensible gibberish; they read like those lonely hearts ads you get in newspapers: GSOH, etc, but at least those had a point. Those ads are abbreviated to save space, but there is absolutely no damned excuse for Twitter to exist, not on the Internet where digital space is limitless! Texting was bad enough, but Twitter is idiocy on a whole new level, and it really does have to stop.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s the electronic global equivalent of a bunch of old ladies gossiping over the garden fence. Every time I hear a journalist, politician or radio DJ mention the word twitter I can’t help but think, Golgafrincham B ark.
